Kick-Off meeting for CORE
On February 11, the EU funded project CORE - The role of Governance in the Resolution of Socioeconomic and Political Conflict in India and Europe within the theme Cultures of Governance and Conflict Resolution in Europe and India,will hold its kick-off meeting. The meeting, which is by ‘invitation only’, will take place in Brussels at the European liason Office of the Norwegian Research Council. The participants will, in addition to representatives from all project partners in the consortium, include the five members of the advisory board and the scientific project officer Angela Liberatore from the European Commission. In conjunction with the kick-off meeting the members of the CORE consortium will meet with representatives from the newly established European Union External Actions Service (EEAS).
The CORE project was officially launched in January 2011, and it will analyse the premises and operation of governance initiatives in conflict transformation processes through a combination of fieldwork, qualitative analysis and theory development. The project aims to fill the gap in knowledge about the impact that governance agendas have on local conflict dynamics, especially in the cases where identity mobilisation is a prominent factor.
CORE Project reaches its first Milestone
The CORE project has now reached its first Milestone with so far 7 deliverables produced. All of the project deliverables can be found on the CORE website.
On 27 June the first Steering Committee Meeting was held in conjunction with the Workshop on `The Socio-Cultural and Political Premises of European and Indian Initiatives in Areas of Conflict Transition/Resolution´. The workshop was hosted by project partner Berghof Conflict Research (BCR) in Berlin and brought together project members to discuss initiatives and premises in areas of local peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
The project is now entering into its next phase where the preliminary field work in the selected cases is carried out. On 1-2 December the CORE consortium will meet to discuss the preliminary results from this field research and have its second Steering Committee Meeting, with the participation from CORE`s distinguished advisory board members. The meetings will take place in Delhi and be hosted by project partner Society for Participatory Research in South Asia (PRIA).
